How to Play
FanFic Survivor is a daily canon-vs-fanon survival game. One global scene, 5 stages, sudden death. Pick the choice that actually happens in the source — or trigger an AI-generated alternative ending.
The 5-Stage Gauntlet
- Stage 1 → 5
Each scene is a sequential story from one franchise (e.g. Jurassic Park). Difficulty climbs from Iconic moments at level 1 to Deep Lore at level 5.
- Make the canon choice
Every stage shows a moment and a set of choices. Exactly one is canon — the choice that actually happens in the source listed at the top of the scene. Pick it to advance.
- One wrong choice ends the run
Pick a fanon choice and the run is over. You'll see a Demise Screen with an AI-generated “What If” ending — your alternative timeline.
Sudden Death & Attempts
You get up to 3 attempts on each daily challenge. Each attempt is sudden-death: one wrong choice and that attempt is done.
The day ends on your first win or after your third loss — whichever comes first. The share grid is always 3 rows × 5 cells; unplayed runs render as a full ⬛ row.
The Archive Vault
Every approved past challenge lives in the Archive Vault. Anyone can browse it; logged-in players can play it.
- Unlimited replays of past challenges. Pick any past scene and run it as many times as you like.
- Today's daily is separate. The daily challenge always plays on the home page, one shot per attempt, up to 3 attempts.
- Today's card locksin the vault once you've finished today's daily — past challenges never lock.

FAQ
What is FanFic Survivor?+
A daily, Wordle-style narrative survival game. Each day a single global scene from a movie or book franchise drops, and you walk through 5 stages of canon-vs-fanon choices. One wrong choice ends the run.
How many tries do I get per day?+
Up to 3 sudden-death runs per day on the daily challenge. Each run ends on the first wrong choice. The day ends on your first win or after the third loss — whichever comes first.
What does 'canon' mean?+
Canon is the choice that actually happens in the official source — the book, film, or specified version listed at the top of the scene. Anything else is fanon, and triggers an AI-generated alternative ending.
What is the Archive Vault?+
Every approved past challenge stays playable in the Archive. Logged-in players can replay any past scene as many times as they want. Today's daily is separate and still one shot only, up to 3 attempts.
Why is today's challenge locked in the archive?+
Today's daily plays on the home page, not in the vault. Once you've finished today's daily (won, lost out your 3 attempts, or run out of attempts), the card locks until midnight UTC. Past challenges never lock.
Do I need an account?+
No. Daily play is free, no login required. Logging in unlocks streaks and the Archive Vault.
When does the daily reset?+
Midnight UTC. Streaks and the new daily challenge roll over together.
